I chose to create a stylized illustration with custom typography that took the shape of a uterus. I made a conscious decision to stay clear of the expected, overly feminine color palette; instead I chose to incorporate energetic, bold colors including green, a color associated with abortion justice.
I’ve spent the last 20+ years working in the design industry after receiving a BFA in Graphic Design from Moore College of Art & Design as well as an MFA in Museum Exhibition Planning & Design from University of the Arts. Since 2007, I have also been a professor of Graphic Design at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI. Though teaching full-time, I’m actively engaged in the design industry as a freelance designer taking on a variety of clients from political organizations andinternational companies to small local clients. I’m passionate about design for social impact and often find myself designing in response to current global events. Additionally, I continually donate my services to several domestic and international animal rescue organizations.
